Stone path lined with ferns and flowers

A garden that still looks good in February.

Garden design, native planting, paving and retaining walls across Adelaide and the Hills. We plant for long, dry summers, so your garden needs less water and less work.

  • Free site visit within a weekWe walk the block with you and talk budget honestly.
  • A fixed-price quoteThe number we agree on is the number on the invoice.
  • 12-month plant guaranteeIf something we planted fails in year one, we replace it.

Same yard, one season later

A bare concrete path in Norwood became a gravel walk through native planting that gets by on rainfall. Drag the handle, or focus it and use the arrow keys.

Before: concrete path between trees

What we do

Six services, one crew of our own. Every job is planned around Adelaide's long, dry summers, and each one has a way to save water built in.

Garden design

A scaled plan, planting list and fixed quote, drawn after we've walked your block together.

Design plans from A$650, credited if we build it.

Lawn only where you'll actually use it.

Native and waterwise planting

Hardy local plants, improved soil and a deep mulch layer, grouped by how much water they need.

Most need rainfall only, once they're through their first summer.

Paving and paths

Stone, brick and crushed granite paths, patios and edging, laid on a proper compacted base.

Permeable joints, so rain soaks into the garden instead of the drain.

Retaining walls

Sleeper, block and sandstone walls that level a sloping block and make room for garden beds.

Terraces slow run-off, so water stays where the roots are.

Irrigation

Drip lines under the mulch and a smart controller you can change from your phone.

It skips a watering when rain is forecast.

Seasonal maintenance

Pruning, weeding, feeding and mulch top-ups, four or eight visits a year, by the crew who built it.

From A$240 a visit for a two-person crew.

Mulch topped up and the controller reset before every summer.

Plants that cope with a 40-degree week

Our go-to list for Adelaide gardens. The drops show how much water each needs once it's established, after its first summer with us.

Rainfall is enoughRegular watering
  • Old man saltbushAtriplex nummulariaSilver hedging that takes heat, wind and salty soil. Our namesake.
  • Coastal rosemaryWestringia fruticosaClips into neat hedges and balls, like a native box.
  • Emu bushEremophila glabraFlowers from late winter into summer. Honeyeaters love it.
  • Mat rushLomandra longifoliaTough, grassy clumps for borders, slopes and verges.
  • Kangaroo pawAnigozanthosTall flower stems through spring and summer. Likes a drink in a heatwave.
  • For comparison: a lawnThe thirstiest thing in most Adelaide gardens, all summer long.

How a project runs

Four steps from the first visit to a garden that looks after itself. You'll know the price before any digging starts.

What clients say

Sample layout. On your site, your real Google reviews show here.

Our front yard was dead lawn and gravel. Two summers on, it's full of flowers and we've barely run the tap.

Helen, UnleySample review

The quote was the final bill, which never happened with our last renovation. The crew swept the street every afternoon.

Marco, NorwoodSample review

They rebuilt a collapsing sleeper wall on our slope and turned the terraces into veggie beds. Solid work.
